The Eurofighter is a twin-engine, multi-purpose combat aircraft, developed and produced in cooperation between Britain, Germany, Italy, and Spain. The development of the aircraft has been and continues to be surrounded by a lot of turmoil. This is why it was first called European Fighter Aircraft (EFA), followed by Eurofighter 2000 and eventually renamed the Eurofighter Typhoon. It is primarily known in Germany and Austria as the Eurofighter. In total, over 570 aircraft have already been ordered, of which 472 are destined for the nations involved in its development. More than 400 jets have been delivered to date.

The Eurofighter was developed as an air superiority fighter against the threat of the Warsaw Pact. After the end of the Cold War, it was adapted for its new role as a multi-purpose combat aircraft. Now the Eurofighter serves primarily as a fighter-bomber and reconnaissance aircraft. It was first put into actual use as the British Eurofighter Typhoon in March 2011 in Libya, where these aircraft successfully enforced the no-fly zone.

The most advanced combat aircraft in the world can fly at high altitudes (up to 11 miles/18 km high). With a maximum speed of Mach 2.35, it is speedy, and its external shape allows it to be extremely agile. Notwithstanding this, the 13 outstations can be loaded with up to 8 tons of artillery.

It was developed in the late 1960s by the company Mauser and is now produced by Rheinmetall. With a range of 1 mile/1600 m. and a rate of fire of 1700 rounds per minute, it is employed for shorter distances. The muzzle velocity of the projectiles is over 3820 feet/1000 meters per second. Over 9 lb./4 kg. of projectile mass are fired in less than a second.
